What is Ergonomics?

Ergonomics derives from two Greek words: ergon (work), and nomoi (natural laws), to create a word that means the science of work and a person’s relationship to that work. It is the science of designing the job, equipment, and workplace to fit the worker. Proper ergonomic design is necessary to prevent injuries at workplace. Businesses once thought that there was a bottom-line tradeoff between safety and efficiency. Now they have learned that designing a safe work environment can also result in greater efficiency and productivity. A properly equipped and arranged work space can limit neck, shoulder and back muscular pain, prevent eye strain, maintain healthy spinal alignment, and aid circulation to the arms and legs.

So what would be the most comfortable sitting position at a desk?

  1. The top of the monitor should be at the eye level or just below it.
  2. Monitor should be roughly arms length away.
  3. Minimal bend at wrists when typing.
  4. Back should be straight.
  5. Elbows close to the body.
  6. Backrest to support lower back.
  7. Adjustable swivel chair.
  8. Front of the seat not pressing on the back of the knees.
  9. Feet flat on the ground or resting on footrest.

Which chairs are suitable for my office?

Which chairs are suitable for my office? Businesses may benefit from considering the ergonomic merits of office chairs when furnishing their buildings. Workers who sit at a desk all day should sit in various positions throughout the day. The group said making sure their backs are close to the back of the chair would be a good idea, as well as not leaning forwards to look at their computer screen. This means that employers should make sure they purchase chairs which offer good bodily support to their desk-bound staff. How to buy printer Ink & Toner in Ireland

Which toner or cartridge is suitable for my printer/copier/fax machine? Details of the laser jet toners or cartridges that are suitable for your printer, copier or fax machine can be found in the operation manual for your machine. If you’re replacing an empty toner or cartridge you can look at the manufacturers reference printed on the cartridge.

If you know the model number of your printer HuntOffice.ie can help you chose the correct p

roduct with our user-friendly ink & toner Finder tool.

You can search for your Ink Cartridge, Laser Toner or Fax ribbon by browsing Machine Brand and Model.

If you know the product/manufacturers code you can use our keyword search.

You can save your favourite products in your own shopping list so whenever you need to buy a new replacement cartridge or toner just click on your shopping list. With www.HuntOffice.ie it really could not be easier!

What’s the difference between original and compatible cartridges?

The machine manufacturer makes original cartridges and they are guaranteed to work from any defects. It is recommended option by the manufacturer for the machine it is being used in.

Compatible cartridges are brand new cartridges, which exactly match the original cartridge. They are manufactured as a lower priced alternative to the original brand.

What if my printer is not working correctly? If your printer is malfunctioning you can contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer can make repairs or replacement that may be required.

What if 1 of my colours runs out, do I need to change all of my toners?

If the cartridges come individually i.e. cyan (blue), magenta (red), yellow and black, then there is no need to replace every colour when only one has run out. With individual colour ink cartridges you only have to replace the ink that has run out, saving you time and money. Some manufacturers produce their colour cartridges as a multi-colour cartridge only. If the manufacturer does use multi-colour you will have to replace the complete cartridge. How long should a cartridge last? This will depend on the amount of printing you do. Printing charts, photos, and graphics will obviously use more ink than letters and therefore you may find that your toner or cartridge needs replacing earlier. A more economical option for printers with heavy usage is "High Yield" cartridges; these cost more initially, but typically last longer then “Low Yield”cartridges and are a cheaper for long term option. Search for high yield cartridges for your printer.

If I run completely dry on Ink would I damage my machine if I use it? Yes. Particularly Inkjet printer heads can overheat and be ruined, and nozzles can dry, causing actual machine damage. It is advisable to replace toners and cartridges while there is still some ink left. If you think that your printer has ran out of ink and has been damaged please contact the manufacturer for further advice.

Feel free to add any questions or comments. Well be honoured to answer them.

How to please women in 2010 Start collecting and recycling to remove their green guilt!

A recent study by Tiller, LLC. has shown people are promising to lead greener lives in 2010. Of the 1,000 adults polled, 53% said they would make a green New Year's resolution--and women are leading the way. Women are more likely than men to experience what is being called "green guilt," as the poll calls it--41% versus just 27% of men. As a result, women are more focused on following through with their green resolutions (52% will "very likely" adopt green habits in 2010, as opposed to 33% of men). How will people personally do their part? Recycling more, reducing household energy consumption, and buying from environmentally responsible companies top the list of ways to improve habits. However, many polled already claim to be leading greener lives. In the past year, 76% say they've cut back on energy use, and 50% even declined purchasing products with packaging that may harm the environment. According to a 2009 report by the United Nations Population Fund, women in developing countries bear the brunt of climate change--if there's a poor harvest, it's still their responsibility to ensure their family has enough food--making it interesting that Western women, though for very different reasons, share that heightened concern.

HuntOffice.ie Comment

These simple research findings should inspire retailers to improve their eco-productivity drives in 2010. Offering recycled products is not the core issue as the majority of retailers seem to think.

Being green, means practicing green processes. Offering to cut costs through single source supply systems; reducing the number suppliers; agreeing consolidated delivery schedules; offering packaging and cartridge collection and recycling systems; running eco friendly trucks e.g. bio diesel; renewable and clean energy lighting and power.

Adopting ‘cut costs, cut carbon’ eco policies will increasingly impress the key decision makers; the majority of decision makers in business of course, are women.
